Results Facial Aftercare for a Fresh-Looking Complexion

Smith Street commercial corridor (southern North Providence)
The single most important rule after The Results Facial is simple: keep your skin calm for 24 to 48 hours. That means no makeup, no heavy sweating, no hot showers, and no scrubs or strong actives while your skin settles. I do The Results Facial in North Providence as a 60-minute service, starting at $125, with a customized peel when it makes sense, plus one to two Signature Enhancements, a targeted mask, and finishing products. Your aftercare is what protects that “brighter the next morning” look people love.
The first 24 to 48 hours after a professional facial: keep it cool, clean, and bare
Right after The Results Facial, your skin is refreshed and more receptive. That is great for glow, but it also means it is easier to irritate. If you do nothing else, do these four things for the first day or two.
48-hour reset: Skip makeup, skip workouts that make you sweat, keep showers lukewarm, and keep your hands off your face.
- Hold off on makeup: I generally recommend waiting 24 to 48 hours. Your pores and skin surface have been freshly cleaned and treated. Let that breathe.
- Avoid heat and sweat: No sauna, steam room, hot yoga, or hard cardio in that window. Heat and friction can kick up redness and sensitivity, especially if I used a peel.
- Keep water temperature lukewarm: Hot showers and hot face washing can undo that calm, even if they feel relaxing.
- Do not pick or “check” your skin: If you had extractions, your skin needs quiet time. Picking is how tiny bumps turn into lingering marks.
Quick refresh for commuters on Smith Street
A lot of people stop in along the Smith Street commercial corridor and head right back to work or errands. Keep a simple “car seat” routine: a clean, soft tissue to blot (not rub), a gentle moisturizer, and SPF. If you feel warm leaving the studio, crack a window instead of cranking the heat straight onto your face. In New England weather, that warm car air plus wind outside can be surprisingly drying.
Days 3 to 7: what I want you to avoid so your glow lasts
If your skin feels normal after the first 48 hours, it is still a good idea to stay gentle for the rest of the week. The Results Facial often includes a peel when appropriate, and even a mild peel can make skin act “picky” if you go back to strong products too fast.
- Pause exfoliants and retinoids: I generally recommend skipping acids (AHA, BHA, PHA), retinoids, and exfoliating scrubs for at least 3 to 7 days. If I told you a specific timeline in your appointment, follow that.
- Be careful with “tingly” products: Fragrance-heavy toners, strong vitamin C formulas, or anything that stings is a no for now.
- Do not over-wash: Clean once at night, and in the morning you can often rinse with cool to lukewarm water and moisturize. Over-cleansing is one of the fastest ways to get that tight, dry feeling.
- Respect the sun: Even in Rhode Island fall and winter, UV hits and indoor heating dries you out. SPF and moisturizer matter more than people think this time of year.
A client told me, “Even this morning when I got up I could still see a difference.” That is the goal. The easiest way to keep that kind of result is to avoid the stuff that inflames skin while it is still recovering.
A simple AM/PM routine after The Results Facial (no fancy steps required)
After a professional facial, less is usually more. I would rather you do a boring routine consistently than rotate through five new serums and hope your skin behaves.
Morning
Rinse or gently cleanse. Apply a lightweight moisturizer. Finish with broad-spectrum SPF, even if it is cloudy.
Night
Cleanse with a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser. Apply a barrier-repair moisturizer. If you are dry from indoor heat, add a thin second layer of moisturizer instead of reaching for acids.
If you asked me about products during your appointment, stick with what we discussed. If you are unsure, let me know what you have at home and I will tell you what to pause and what is safe to keep using. I see clients from North Providence, Providence, Pawtucket, Johnston, Smithfield, Lincoln, and Cranston, so quick follow-up questions are common and totally fine.

Redness, light flaking, and when I want you to reach out
A little pinkness right after your appointment can be normal. Light tightness or mild flaking can also happen in the days after, especially if we did a peel. Most of the time, it settles quickly with gentle cleansing, moisturizer, and SPF.
Please reach out to me if you have unusual swelling, redness that keeps getting worse after 48 hours, increasing pain, warmth, pus, or anything that feels “not right.” And if you think you are having an allergic reaction or signs of infection, seek medical advice right away.
“My skin looks it’s best with Nicole’s care and advice.”
one of our long-time clients
That “care and advice” part matters. Aftercare is how you keep that bright, hydrated look longer, especially when New England air turns cooler and indoor heat dries everything out. If you are due for your next appointment and want options beyond The Results Facial, I put them all in one place in facials services on Smith Street.
Keeping that “just had the best facial” look in North Providence
If you are busy, I get it. The Results Facial is designed to be worth the hour, and your aftercare should be just as practical. Keep it gentle for 24 to 48 hours, pause actives for the week, and protect your skin every morning with SPF. If something feels off, do not wait it out. Let me know and I will talk you through the next step.
